# How to Send a Payment

You do not need a HandlPay account to send a payment. All you need is the recipient's social media username and a way to pay. HandlPay handles currency conversion and routing automatically, so there is no back-and-forth with the person you are paying.

## How to send a payment

    Visit [app.handlpay.com](https://app.handlpay.com) directly, or click a payment link the recipient shared with you.

  <Step title="Enter the recipient's handle">
    Type the recipient's social media username into the handle field and select the platform it belongs to:

    * **Gmail**
    * **Instagram**
    * **WhatsApp**
    * **Telegram**
    * **X**

    Click **Pay** to continue.

  <Step title="Select a currency">
    Choose the currency you want your payment routed in:

    * **\$USDC**
    * **\$CC**

    <Note>
      The currency you select is what you purchase and send. HandlPay automatically converts and routes it to match the receiver's wallet's accepted format. You do not need to ask the receiver what currency they prefer.

  <Step title="Choose a payment method">
    Select how you want to pay:

    * **Credit/Debit Card** (includes Apple Pay)
    * **Crypto**
    * **Bank transfer** (coming soon)

    <Tip>
      All payments are routed via crypto under the hood, the fastest and cheapest way to send money in 2026. All applicable fees are shown transparently before you confirm. There are no hidden fees.

    Follow the steps for your chosen payment method below, then confirm the transaction.

## Payment method details

  <Tab title="Credit/Debit Card">
    After selecting **Credit/Debit Card** (or Apple Pay):

    1. You are forwarded to **Mercuryo**, HandlPay's on-ramp partner, where you purchase the selected currency.
    2. Complete the Mercuryo flow to buy the currency.
    3. Hit **Send**, HandlPay takes care of the rest.

    Nothing else is required on your end after you send.

    After selecting **Crypto**:

    1. Choose whether you or the receiver covers the gas fees.
    2. Connect your crypto wallet.
    3. Approve and complete the transaction in your wallet.

## Confirmation

Once your payment is sent, you are taken to a confirmation screen that displays a transaction ID. Save this ID for your records, or use it to verify the transaction on-chain.

From the confirmation screen, you can also make another payment or create a HandlPay account to start receiving payments yourself.
